Where it all began

Lumber City was established back in 1979. Since then the Franchise has grown to more than 50 stores throughout Africa, making it the largest group of independents in the industry.

With years of experience in Franchising and the glass and aluminium trade, another Franchise was developed under the same management team. Alunite was born in 1989 when its first glass and aluminium store opened in the Western Cape and still trades successfully today under the leadership of the Franchisor, Charles Flemming.

Given the success of these Franchises, combined with the support that we receive from the Franchisors throughout, it really makes it worthwhile to trade under them.

Lumber City BFN has been successfully trading since 2003. Closely before the previous owner sold the business in 2018, the Alunite Franchise was added to the package, broadening the scope of our business tremendously. Both Franchises are individually owned, allowing us the freedom to express our own unique trading style and to adapt our product line to fit the needs of the area we do business in.
